The French 10c.or stamp tied by PM11B.
On front an unusual blue handstamp of a V in a 10 mm circle found occasionally on unopened mail.
The 4th military district was the State of South Australia, with Adelaide as the site of the District's
Civilian Censor Station. The handstamp is seen used during 1939 to 1941 and may have been
used to indicate that the mail had been seen but not opened by the censor. (J.C Smith : Civil Censorship in Australia and Depandencies 1939 to 1945) ("SeSi" coll.)
10 September 1941
The British 10c stamp prepays the 10c Colonial rate per ½ oz. to Australia.
The letter - flap endorsed "RAAF / New Hebrides" - is uncensored. It would appear
that RAAF ground-stuff members prepared facilities in the New Hebrides for handling
Allied aircraft - possibly in 1940 - 41 but definitely in 1941. (Mele coll.)

Spectacular On Action Service letter to Wellington New Zealand,
sent by a member of the New Zealand Air Force in NH (APO 361)
who used the full Gilbert and Ellice set of 12 stamps (issue 14.1.1939).
The black NZAPO B cachet and the violet censor RNZAF mark tied partially
the stamps. Definitely philatelic, validited by the regimental postmaster, but he uses only
one postmark in order to cancel the 12 stamps! ("SeSi" coll.)
