It is possible that Mr. Roessler had contact to Emmanuel Rougier in 1913 already. At this time Rougier was at Fanning Island.
Backstamped Honolulu 1913-04-31.

With the following covers we have an interesting phenomenon which Ingomar Janot brought to my attention:
The covers with the pre-printed address all carry the big palm cachet CL1a, the one with the small gap between "Central" and "Christmas" and "ISD." and "LTD.".
The covers with the manuscript address all carry CL1, the one with the wide gap.

A Emmanuel Rougier picture postcard to Mr. Roessler. It shows the place where Rougier grew up: Château des Îles near Brioude, France.
Contribution of a Christmas Island collector
Château des Îles near Brioude, France.
Blow up of the part cancel and the pencil drwaing on the card.
This is a very interesting postcard. It offers some solutions and opens a series of questions.
-- It proves that Emmanuel Rougier wrote all the manuscript addresses on Roessler covers himself.
-- It gives us a view of Château des Îles which was unknown so far.
-- The CI stamp at left is quite suspicious: It carries the CL1 cancel sideways and was not concelled on the postcard. Some simple and illogical pencil strokes suggest that the stamp is tied to the card.
-- 1) Rougier may have had a used stamp at hand and placed it on the card.
-- 2) Roessler himself added the stamp. He was well known to produce philatelic concoctions.
-- 3) Another owner of the card added the stamp. Butt hen he must have had some knowledge to see that
the card had some connection to Christmas Island and CI stamp would be o.k. on it.
I think #2 may be correct.
