Tiby (Nicolas) Hagen, the addressee of the second 7 June cover below.
He was so well known, that a postcard to "Tiby Pacific" would reach him from
any part of the world. This photo was made on a vehicular ferry, 30 miles from
Nouméa, in September 1933. (Source: PIM (Pacific Islands Monthly), November 22, 1934)
Ship table 1920
Not very comfortable but working. I'm still experimenting with the ship runs. The vertical colour bars go from leaving Sydney to coming back to Sydney.

And this is how the one 9 November cover in the carousel above looks now: It has been cut in parts.......
I think in the hope that the snippets would bring more money than the complete Ackland cover.
Cover to Sydney with 10c on 25c, Date: VILA, JU 7, 20, PCH type 7. This is one of the two
earliest recorded covers with this stamp and therefore gives the dateline for the first sale. (Goron coll.)
Cover to Nouméa with 10c on 25c, Date: VILA, JU 7, 20, PCH type 7. This is the second of
the two earliest recorded covers with this stamp. (Ruecker coll.)
Cover with 10c on 25c, Date: VILA, JU 10, 20, PCH type 7. (Aore coll.)
Not seen very often: cover with the 1d / 1sh overprinted stamp to Australia cancelled with PCH type 7. (Treadwell coll.)

Unaddressed letter, the three 1920 British and two French stamps tied with PCH type 7.("SeSi" collection)
These snippets here have once been a nice Pognon cover until some weird collector (or dealer?) had the idea that the parts were nicer
as the cover. A shame! I bought the parts an joined them graphically here on this page. (Klinger coll.)
1920 provisional 10c on a cover to Paris cancelled with GK Type PM4. J. Bouge was a former Goveror of "La France d'outre mer".
Until 1 September 1920 the French colonial letter rate was 10c so correctly franked.
Sealed on back and machine cancelled Sydney OC 1 1920 (MAKAMBO) and Paris 16 XI 20.

Registered letter to South Africa, bearing a mixture of normal and overprint stamps,
and prepaid 3d postage and 3d registration. PCH type 7,
registration cachet PCH type R1. (Goron coll.)
A miilésime strip of 5 5c stamps, an English 1d stamp and strip of four 10c stamps make up for a total of 75c on a registered cover
to Melbourne. The colonial letter rate valid from 1. September 1920 was 20c, each additional 10g 10c and registration fee 30c.
So this here was the rate for a 40g letter and 5c overpayment.

Letter to Sydney with a mixture of 1910 to 1920 French and British stamps, 50c could
be the rate for a heavy registered letter. The number 337 speaks for registration but
there's no other "R" sign. Backstamped 18 Nov 1920 Balmain NSW. (Klinger coll.)

Letter to New York, the French 1911/12 20c and British 1920 ovpt 1d stamps
cancelled with PCH type 7. See [B.1.4.-20OC12] for another cover from the same
sender. On this cover the month "OC" is inverted by 180 degrees (see the little blow up) which is rather
awkward as on OC 27 it was correct and also on all other OC 1920 covers we know. (Ruecker coll.)
Unusual franking 2 x 10c 1920 overprint + English 1911 ½d definitive + Australian George V 2d to Sydney.

Cover with pair of 10c on 25c tied with PCH type 7. Théodore Champion was a well known French Philatelist in Paris and was the first to open a stamp shop
in rue Drouot. Many followed and rue Drouot became a center of the Paris stamp business. (Merot coll.)
Letter to Nouméa, the three 1921 British and two French stamps are
tied with PCH type 7. Adressee "Maestracci", maybe the later Governor of Tahiti?
The word "Euphrosyne" could refer to the first British ship in this region with
this name which used to carry the British Resident Commissioner around the New Hebrides.
The ship was wrecked in the late 20's. ("RMD" coll.)
Very heavy old-fashioned linen cover registered to New Zealand. Franked 6d - most likely the
correct rate for a heavy letter with two sets of the 1d overprints. They are tied byPCH type 7. (Klinger coll.)
