7 March 1936 - reverse
All indications are that André Leralle made these two handstamps himself and convinced the postmaster to use them.
The fact that Leralle used such methods is supported by the statement of Ron Bentley in an exhibit paper of
Society of Indo-China Philatelists "Markings that Moved the Mail in Indochina"
that "Andre Leralle was an active philatelist who prepared handstamps for his own use or for the use of the Cantho post office."and that the "5C Taxe Minimum"
handstamp used on 1932 covers on these pages was not Indo-China official.

Letter to Garrett, Indiana, USA with ***** *** Texas Centennial issued in March 1936,
tied with the French GK PM12B paquebot cancel. Backstamped PCH type 12 of the
same date. I always wonder how the senders managed to get paquebot cancels on US
stamps in Vila. I very much doubt that a ship would have left the US and then
called at Vila as first harbour outside the US. Maybe the paquebot rules were valid
for American Samoa too. (Yeomans coll.)
