This is the moment when I have to concede that my idea that only two sheets of the inverted 5d error existed was WRONG!
A block of four stamps surfaced which was so far unknown to me as it was hidden in the collection of a British gentleman for many decades.
The four stamps are pos 1,4 / 2,4 and 1,5 / 2,5 and of course the stamp 1,5 containing part of the lignment cross. As we have already two
pairs 1,5 / 1,6 this means that this is the aligning cross of a THIRD SHEET.
So I have to reorder my thoughts about this error.
This block of four has an RPSL expert's report dated 4 March 1957 for Robson Lowe Ltd. It was sold at Harmers on 16 September 1970 as lot 586.

September 2019: I have an interesting idea: We have now a lot of copies of the inverted 1d and 5d stamps. Time to use statistics:
Inverted 1d: Of 1 sheet of 30 stamps 20 are know so far: 66,7 %
Inverted 5d: 39 are known. I think it is safe to assume that one copy can be found in the Queen collection so there are 42.
With two sheets this would be 70% too - the same rate as with the inv. 1d stamp and with three sheets this would only be 46,7%.
I think that there is no reason why so many more 5d stamps were lost as with the 1d. No used copy is known to me so the sheets may have been in dealer hands
from the beginning. Most likely Ackland: he produced a lot of covers with 1920 to 1924 stamps in these years.
So statistics lead to the conclusion that only two sheets of this error existet. I think that this idea needs further investigation.
This page shows an attempt to "plate" the inverted 5d stamps as known on 27 September 2019 - 39 stamps. Comparing the positions of the overprint led to the idea to
divide them into three groups:
1) 5d overprint below the perforation but above the printed image. #1 pos 1.1 & 1.2 are uncertain, could as well be in #2
2) 5d overprint partly on the perforation.
3) 5d overprint inside the frame of the printed image.
All sheets have in common that the left column of stamps is centered to the right and the right column centered to the left.
The middle column is fairly centered.
Some positions of the stamps a rather sure, others are guesses. The conclusion is that there must have been three sheets of
this inverted overprint. Especially the grouping of #2 makes me think that parts of these sheets had been postally used
without the error being discovered.

1924 inv. 5d
This 1924 inverted 5d overprint surfaced in 2014. I really don't know what to think of it.
It is a copy where the overprint is much lower than on all others: the round end of the "5" touches the I.
The overprint looks good - I could not say that it is a forgery by just seeing this scan.
The centering tells us that this copy cannot originate from the right column of a sheet. All middle columns we have are centered such that the left
paper part outside the image is smaller or about the same size as the right one. So this stamp must originate from the left column.
Where would it fit? Maybe at the bottom of the 3rd sheet. At the first sheet we see that the overprint is drifting downwards a bit to the bottom of the sheet.
Some of my images at the bottom of the 3rd sheet may belong to positions further up.
